Jodie Coles - Internal Quality Assurance

You'll meet and work with me on

I am delighted to be your Institute of Leadership course internal verifier (IQA). That means I will be assessing your course feedback to ensure you have met all the required criteria, have ongoing support and the best learning experience possible.

My background and experience:

HR has been my life for almost 20 years, having studied a BA HRM and then later CIPD level 7. What brings the learning to life is the amazing roles I have carried out during this time across multiple sectors and industries. Highlights are recruiting first class colleagues and ensuring they have the best onboarding experience. Another is launching transparent fair HR policies to encourage working environments that get the very best out of people who then work hard for your business.

My expertise

I am fortunate to have worked in many HR roles. Highlights are reviewing & writing HR policy in both public and private sector organisations (these were very different approaches!), leading outstanding operational teams, resourcing & onboarding and management coaching on a variety of HR and employment law topics. Essentially, ensuring HR is authentic and a respected place within a business.

My greatest achievements so far:

I have many moments that stand out, some smaller and some that have really made my HR career. Taking the step into a standalone HR role is a key highlight, never knowing what the day may bring means constant challenge and learning! I’m proud of support I have provided to colleagues regarding right to work requirements and policy ensuring they can commence (and continue) to work for themselves and their families. Another is a project to streamline multiple HR policies and working in stakeholder groups to develop and communicate across teams

What makes me tick:

Staying true to myself even in tough environments that can question your own ability or values. I am tenacious about people being treated fairly and a team who look out for each other. We spend a lot of time at work and you need to be trusted and supported by those your with every day, right up and down and across the business.

The companies and organisations that I admire most:

Where businesses don’t stop learning and take genuine care for their people. We have all worked for a bad leader and we have all worked for a good leader…. you know what that feels like.

Why I feel investing in people is important:

It's simple…… happy productive people mean a successful business.
